Los Banos, CA (September 26, 2025) — As Mayor, one of the most frequent concerns I hear from residents is about the condition of our streets. Safe and well-maintained roads are essential for our daily lives, our safety, and our local economy. That is why the City Council, and I have made road repairs a top priority in this year’s budget.
Last year, the council budgeted $2.1 million for road repair. This year’s new city council invested more than triple that amount of $6.6 million dollars, showing a strong commitment to reinvesting taxpayer dollars back into our community. This investment includes Measure V, and the state’s SB1 gas tax. Some of these dollars will also go toward ADA curb upgrades to ensure accessibility for all.
The repaving program is already underway with design and engineering in progress. Most work will take place in spring 2026 when weather conditions are best. Streets scheduled for repaving include:
- West I Street
- South Rock Creek
- RiverBrook Ct.
- Sun Stream Ct.
- Cool Springs Ct.
- Holly Ct.
- SugarPine Ct.
- Creekside Ct.
- Polcetto Ct.
- Wine Cellar Ct.
- Milano Ct.
- South Fallbrook
- North 3rd
In response to resident feedback at our Pioneer Road outreach event, we also added a stretch of Pioneer Road west of Ortigalita to this year’s projects.
Looking ahead, we are already preparing next year’s paving list so that work can begin quickly in summer 2027. At the same time, working with Cal-Trans, Highway 152, is now scheduled for state-funded repaving in late 2026, running from west of the Walmart driveway to east of San Luis Street.
Every mile repaved improves safety, reduces long-term maintenance costs, and enhances the quality of life for our residents. Roads are the lifelines of our community, and with this year’s increased funding and projects, we are paving the way for a stronger Los Banos.
