Merced, CA (November 26, 2025) — A 16-year-old boy identified by his family as Davarion Granados was fatally shot late Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in Merced. In the aftermath, his family has established a fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses and related needs.

His family wrote on the fundraising landing page “Losing our 16 year old Davarion has been a heartbreaking experience for us. In the wake of this senseless loss, our community has come together to honor his memory. We remember Davarion not just as a victim of violence, but as a vibrant young man filled with energy, humor, and kindness—someone who deserved so much more time to grow, to laugh, and to love. The Granados family’s grief is shared by all who knew Davarion, and as we mourn, his memory remains a beacon of light, forever etched in the hearts of those who loved him.”
According to reports from the Merced Police Department, officers responded around 9:30–10:00 p.m. to an apartment complex near the intersection of U Street and Fourth Street after calls about gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered a juvenile suffering at least one gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family members have publicly identified the victim as Davarion Granados. His mother described that he was walking home after visiting friends when a white car reportedly drove into the complex and gunfire erupted. She said her son had been on the phone with his father just before the shooting.
At this time, police have not announced any arrests, suspects, or charges, and the motive remains unclear. Investigators are examining multiple witness statements from people at the complex.
In response, the family has created a fundraiser (through GoFundMe) to help with funeral costs and other family needs as they grieve and await justice.
As this remains an active investigation, police are urging anyone with information to contact detectives.
