LOS BANOS, CA (October 23, 2025) — The Los Banos Arts Council invites the public to a vibrant celebration of Día de los Muertos on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ted Falasco Arts Center, located at the corner of 5th and K Streets in Los Banos. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome.

This family-friendly event will feature live music, traditional dance performances, art and face painting, sugar skull decorating, cultural photo opportunities, and delicious food from local vendors. Organizers say it’s a joyful day to celebrate life and honor those who have passed.

At the heart of the celebration will be a community ofrenda—a colorful altar created to honor loved ones who have died. Members of the public are invited to bring a personal memento, such as a photograph, small object, or handwritten note, to add to the ofrenda.

“An ofrenda is an offering of love and remembrance,” said the Arts Council. “It’s a space where everyone can come together to reflect on the lives of their ancestors and celebrate their memory.”

Community members may contribute to the ofrenda early by dropping off items at the Ted Falasco Arts Center on Thursday, October 30, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., or bring them to the event for setup at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1. Items can be picked up after the celebration at 4 p.m. or on Monday, November 3, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition to the ofrenda, the Los Banos Arts Council is calling for local artists to submit works for a special exhibit to be displayed during the event. Submissions should explore themes of remembrance, cultural tradition, and the joyful celebration of life. Artists are encouraged to create pieces that honor ancestors and reflect the rich symbolism of Día de los Muertos. All mediums are welcome.

The submission deadline is Thursday, October 30, and interested artists can email [email protected] or call/text (209) 752-0227 for more information.

The annual Día de los Muertos celebration is presented by the Los Banos Arts Council as part of its ongoing mission to promote local art, culture, and community engagement.
