Los Banos, CA (September 25, 2025) — The Fil-Am Association USA, originally named Fil-Am of Los Banos, was organized in August 1994 by some Fil-Am residents here in Los Banos. It is a non-profit, non-political, and non-governmental socio-civic organization whose mission is promoting Filipino heritage, customs, and traditions and maintaining their sense of identity, camaraderie, prestige, justice, and equality.

One of the objectives of this association is to adhere and internalize the enduring core values of love of God, respect for authority, selfless love and service for people, respect for one another, responsible dominion and stewardship over material things, and the wisdom for truthfulness. Its vision is to develop and implement a sustainable program for the civic and social welfare of the members and the community. The scope of membership is nationwide.

Last August 30, 2025, during its 31st Anniversary, Mayor Michael S. Amabile and the City Council Members of the City of Los Banos proclaimed Saturday, August 30, 2025 as Los Banos Fil-Am Day and encouraged all residents to celebrate Filipino-American heritage and their contributions to the City of Los Banos. The Proclamation was presented to Dr. Josefina A. Narvaez, the current president of the Fil-Am Association USA, with some of the officers, by the Honorable Michael S. Amabile.

The Fil-Am USA Officers (left to right): Belen Torres-Moskowitz (Bus. Mngr.), Gina E. Craig, Ph.D. (Auditor), Madelyn Hammersley (Treas.), Sarah Bamidis (Vice-Pres.), Edna Dimailig (PRO), Luchi Duncan (Asst. Auditor), Josefina A. Narvaez, Ph.D. (President), Mayor Michael S. Amabile, and Nestor P. Dimailig (PRO).

This ceremonial document is an accolade that serves as a challenge to the above-mentioned association to work hard in promoting strong partnership and linkages with other Filipino and non-Filipino communities, government agencies, and other organizations to initiate projects and activities for family and community welfare and perhaps, could be a perfect catalyst for uniting more volunteers for a common cause.
