Urgent Search Underway for Missing Man with Early Signs of Dementia

A 79-year-old man by the name of Robert Toomey disappeared from his residence located at the 13800 block of Choco Road in Apple Valley, California on January 22, 2024, at around 10:00 p.m. According to authorities, Toomey is believed to be in the early stages of dementia and left in his 2013 gray 4-door Honda Accord with license plate number 8UXC266. Toomey may be traveling to see relatives in San Francisco and passing through the Los Banos area.

On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the situation took a worrying turn when Toomey was spotted at a gas station in Downey, CA, around 2:00 a.m. A video camera subsequently captured his vehicle in Clovis, CA, at 9:46 a.m. Officials say Toomey has a son living in San Francisco, and at the time of his disappearance, he had an unspecified amount of cash and no cell phone or credit cards.

Toomey is described as a white male adult standing at 5’7″ and weighing 150 lbs, with blue eyes and brown hair. The last known sighting had him wearing a black jacket, blue shirt, and blue sweatpants.
