Los Banos, CA (December 9, 2025) — Detectives with the Madera County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a Madera man believed to be connected to two separate sexual assault cases, including one that occurred in Los Banos and another in Montgomery County, Maryland.
According to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, detectives were contacted by the Montgomery County Police Department (Maryland) requesting assistance in locating a suspect wanted for a sexual assault committed in their jurisdiction. During the investigation, Madera County detectives determined that the same suspect was also tied to a separate sexual assault in Los Banos, California.
Detectives obtained both a search warrant and an arrest warrant for the suspect.
On December 9, 2025, deputies arrested 27-year-old Mauricio Martinez-Garcia, a resident of Madera, at his home without incident. Martinez-Garcia is being held at the Madera County Jail on charges including rape. He will later be extradited to Maryland to face additional charges there.
