Roger George Guide Service Fishing Report: 2.25.2026 San Luis Reservoir

On February 25, 2026 by Roger George – Roger George Guide Service

Los Banos, CA (February 25, 2026) — San Luis Reservoir has received a new charge of water from our last storm- raising the lake level to 1,717,000 acre feet and an elevation of 518’ ( 25’ from full). Angler reports have been good overall with a strong shoreline bait bite, as well as a good reaction jerk bait bite for boaters  in shallow water. Trolling has been slower due to many of the schools moving up to feed along  the banks and coves.

Swimbaits and jerkbaits have been the go- to lures most boat fishermen are using to catch their limits. There is a huge shoreline to currently work since the rising lakes shoreline keeps spreading – creating new spots where the schools are feeding. The shallow waters temperature is slightly warmer  than the deeper water, while also attracting baitfish into the shallows to take advantage of the newly submerged cover. The marauding stripers are feeding on these concentrated baitfish. Limits of schoolfish sized stripers are being taken by most anglers that have any experience. There have been a few larger stripers taken lately- with several being released.

The weather conditions continue to be very warm for February-  and forecasts  look like more of the same for at least another week. The possibility of a full reservoir seems likely so far – especially since the last storm .

Looks like we are off to a good season!

Never give up! Roger
