Immigration Enforcement: One Citizen’s Perspective

Dear Editor,

I want to express my sympathy for the fear of ICE  presence in schools around the county. School should be a place to learn and not to enforce the law, nor antisemitism and violence as seen on college campuses in 2025.

I am an American citizen, retired veteran and a targeted individual for 21 years living in Merced, California; sanctuary city. Merced city officials, community leaders, Merced police department have sanctioned illegal immigrants to conduct organized harassment, stalking and illegal surveillance as retaliation for reporting the violations of my civil liberties and vandalism of my property.

Illegal immigration violates federal immigration laws, and SB 54 encourages defiance of the law and helps to establish a”Two-Tiered justice system”, that favors illegal immigrants not law abiding American citizens. Also, SB 54(The California Values Act), obstructs cooperation between local and federal law enforcement agencies. This hinders justice and protects sanctuary policies. Therefore, threatening the safety of American citizens in these sanctuary jurisdictions.

Sincerely,

Kevin A. Amonoo
