Dear Editor:
I like having this little newspaper and I hope you are successful.
I wrote a letter to the mayor, recently. I asked him please if Los Banos can get Kaiser to come to our town.
I spoke with an employee of Kaiser, and she said that Los Banos is one of the cities they were considering to open a facility. I told the mayor it would be great to have Kaiser, here since we have nothing comparable and not only for its health benefits but also for a skilled workforce.
This could someday become a training facility for our young kids, a job with great, promised potential.
This would put in those new houses, doctors, nurses, technicians, housekeeping, maintenance and so on.
I used to work for San Marcos School District in San Diego County. They offered Kaiser a large plot of land, a long-term lease and no taxes. Kaiser jumped. Now, years later a big hospital is there.
Our city is growing and needs a major medical player.
I asked the mayor who are you building all these homes for – not retirees from San Jose – we need to find bigger fish to fry!
Not only would a Kaiser be a great partner, but it would be at a major crossroad. The CHP told me they have to fly people to Merced or Fresno, or drive them far away.
Sincerely,
Irene Gray
