On November 3, 2025 by Karissa Hernandez

LOS BANOS, CA (November 3, 2025) — Caltrans has announced several roadwork projects this week that will impact traffic in and around Los Banos, with lane and ramp closures scheduled from November 2 through November 8, 2025.

Drivers traveling along State Route 140 should expect one-way traffic control near the Los Banos Creek crossing from Monday, November 3 through Friday, November 7, between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Crews will be performing irrigation-related maintenance during these hours. Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time and prepare for brief delays in the area.

On State Route 165, pavement work will require overnight one-way traffic control between Mercy Springs Road over-crossing and Middle Road. The closures are scheduled nightly from Sunday evening, November 2, through Friday morning, November 7, between 7:45 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Caltrans anticipates 5- to 10-minute delays and encourages drivers to plan ahead and remain alert for flaggers and construction crews.

Beyond Los Banos, additional Caltrans projects continue across Merced County. The southbound John C. Erreca Rest Area along Interstate 5 will remain fully closed through November 30, 2025, for ongoing maintenance. Southbound travelers are being redirected to the Coalinga-Avenal Rest Area located near the Fresno and Kings County line. Meanwhile, on State Route 59 in Merced, long-term lane and shoulder closures remain in effect at the 16th Street Bridge as part of a bridge rehabilitation project expected to continue through December 31, 2025.

Caltrans reminds the public that all scheduled work is subject to change depending on weather conditions, equipment, or other unexpected delays. For the latest updates on highway conditions and closures, motorists can visit QuickMap.dot.ca.gov or check the Caltrans District 10 website for regional advisories.
