According to a recent list published by T-Town Media, which compiled data from GasBuddy and CheapInsurance.com for Stacker (Oct. 23, 2025), two of the county’s cheapest gas stations are right here in Santa Nella.
The report, titled “Cheapest Gas Stations in Merced,” ranked stations across the region by current prices as of October 23. Among the top ten, Petro Stopping Center, located at 28991 W. Gonzaga Road, was listed at $4.03 per gallon, earning the #7 spot. Just a few blocks away, Love’s Travel Stop, at 29025 W. Plaza Drive, came in at #9 with $4.09 per gallon.
These prices are noticeably below the Merced-area average of about $4.51 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, based on current data from AAA’s Gas Prices Tracker. Across California, the average stands around $4.63 per gallon, while the national average is approximately $3.06, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. That means drivers stopping in Santa Nella could save 40–50 cents per gallon compared with much of the Central Valley.
The T-Town Media feature notes that gas prices fluctuate due to crude-oil costs, refinery output, and seasonal demand, with California’s prices among the nation’s highest because of state taxes and cleaner-fuel requirements. Still, the inclusion of both Santa Nella stations among Merced County’s lowest prices underscores how travelers along I-5 and Highway 152 can find some of the best deals right here in the Los Banos area.
