Santa Nella, CA (November 5, 2025) — At its October 21 meeting, the Merced County Board of Supervisors approved a property acquisition measure to support the planned intersection improvement at State Route 33 and Henry Miller Avenue in the unincorporated community of Santa Nella.
Under the approved agreement, the county will pay $79,088, plus escrow and transaction fees, to GAK, Inc. for permanent and temporary construction easements on property identified as Assessor’s Parcel Number 373-061-005. The area to be acquired is roughly 3,148 square feet and will support improvements at the existing SR 33/Henry Miller intersection.
County documents detail the project scope: installation of a traffic signal system at the intersection, pavement widening, new curb ramps, sidewalks, drainage modifications, utility relocations, and dedicated left-turn lanes for northbound and southbound approaches on SR 33. Pedestrian crosswalks on all four sides are also part of the plan. Funding for this work is included in the county’s Fiscal Year 2025-26 Public Works budget.
The project site is located approximately 1,000 feet south of the Interstate 5/SR 33 interchange in Santa Nella.
While the easement acquisition clears a key milestone, there is no publicly verified record yet of a construction contract award, contract start date, or active field work for this project as of this date. The board item and the summary minutes list the easement purchase only; no construction contract for the intersection improvement is referenced.
Officials say the action taken enables the county to move forward with the intersection improvement, but as of now actual onsite construction has not been documented in publicly posted county agenda items.
