Stanislaus coroner asks for help finding family of Modesto man

TURLOCK, CA (September 23, 2025) — Officials with the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office are asking the public to help locate relatives of a 70-year-old Modesto man who died earlier this month.

The man, identified as Yasuhiro Shimabukuro, passed away on September 17 at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. Authorities said his death was from natural causes. Prior to his hospitalization, Shimabukuro had been staying at the Modesto Gospel Mission, according to the coroner’s office.

So far, investigators have not been able to find or notify any of his family members. They are now appealing to the community for assistance

Anyone who may have information about Mr. Shimabukuro’s relatives is urged to reach out to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office at (209) 567-4480. Officials emphasized that connecting with next of kin is an important part of ensuring families are notified and able to make appropriate arrangements.
