Fatal Crash Reported at State Route 59 and Washington Road

MERCED COUNTY, CA (September 29, 2025) – A man was killed early Friday morning, September 26, 2025, following a two-vehicle collision in unincorporated Merced County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:55 a.m. when a 1998 Toyota Corolla traveling westbound on Washington Road failed to stop at the posted sign at State Route 59. The vehicle entered the intersection directly into the path of a northbound 2023 Kenworth semi-truck driven by Karamvir Singh, who was traveling at approximately 55 mph.

The front of the Kenworth struck the left side of the Toyota, causing fatal injuries to the Toyota’s driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of family.

CHP investigators have not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors. The crash remains under investigation.
