Dos Palos, CA (March 2, 2026) — A fatal crash early Sunday morning along State Route 33 north of Dos Palos caused a major power outage and forced the temporary closure of a key stretch of highway, according to authorities.
The collision occurred on SR-33 at Cypress Road, where a vehicle struck a power pole, knocking out electricity to residents in the surrounding area. The impact caused significant damage to utility infrastructure, leading to widespread outages while repair crews worked to restore service.
In an official release, the California Highway Patrol confirmed that State Route 33 near Dos Palos Y was closed from Azusa Avenue to Eucalyptus Road due to the fatal crash.
