Winton, CA (January 20, 2026) — A 41-year-old woman from Turlock died Sunday night following a solo vehicle rollover crash in Winton, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Merced CHP Released the following statement:
“On January 19, 2026, at approximately 7:44 PM, Merced Communications Center (MCC) broadcast a call of a solo vehicle crash with an ambulance responding in the vicinity of Meadow Drive at West Lane. Upon CHP arrival, it was determined to be a solo vehicle rollover crash with the driver ejected from the vehicle. Emergency personnel immediately performed CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) on the adult female driver, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries. Initial investigation determined that a 41-year-old female out of Turlock, CA was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup westbound on Meadow Drive, west of West Lane at an unknown rate of speed. For unknown reasons, the driver allowed the truck to veer to the right onto the north dirt shoulder of Meadow Drive. The driver overcorrected to the left, traveled across both lanes of Meadow Drive and drove into a dry canal located on the south shoulder. The pickup truck impacted the canal bank, causing it to overturn and the driver to be ejected from the vehicle. She was later pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel. This traffic crash is still under investigation, and it is unknown at this time if drugs and/or alcohol were a factor. For media inquiries, please contact Public Information Officer Eric C.
