Stevinson, CA (November 17, 2025) — A minor-injury collision at the intersection of State Route 165 and State Route 140 caused significant traffic delays Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Merced office.

CHP reported that a big rig carrying propane cylinders was involved in the crash. The force of the impact caused the truck’s cab to break away from the trailer, scattering propane cylinders across the scene. Fire crews and tow operators responded immediately to assist and help secure the area.

Because of the debris and recovery efforts, officers implemented one-way traffic control. Drivers traveling through the area were advised to expect delays and use alternate routes when possible while the roadway remained partially blocked.

CHP also reminded drivers to use extra caution at intersections, noting that slowing down, checking cross-traffic, and avoiding rushed decisions can help prevent collisions.

The agency thanked motorists for their patience while crews worked to clear the roadway and restore normal traffic flow.
