On November 19, 2022, at approximately 10:54 PM, Los Banos Police Department requested the assistance of CHP Officer M. Mariscal for a crash on Badger Flat Road, north of State Route-152 (Pacheco Boulevard). He responded to the scene, along with his partner, Officer. T. Broome, ID 21660.
After preliminary investigation, it was determined this crash took place in the County of Merced and was in CHP jurisdiction. Officer Mariscal determined that a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling southbound on Badger Flat Road, north of State Route-152 (Pacheco Blvd.), at an unknown speed. The Mitsubishi ran off the road onto the west dirt shoulder and lost control. The Mitsubishi continued out of control and crashed into a PG&E pole. The Mitsubishi was redirected in a westerly direction and struck a fence. The male driver was pinned in the driver’s seat of the Mitsubishi and was pronounced deceased on scene.
Alcohol and/or drugs were not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
As of Monday afternoon, Nov. 21, the victim’s identity and city had not yet been released by the Merced County Sheriff-Coroner’s office. Please check back later for any updates to this report.
