LOS BANOS, CA (July 23, 2025) — A small wildfire broke out near Wolfsen Road and Hereford Road in Los Banos on the afternoon of Sunday, July 21. Dubbed the Wolfsen Fire, the blaze was first reported around 3:35 p.m. and quickly mobilized a response from the Cal Fire Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit.
The fire burned approximately one acre of land before crews fully contained it by noon Tuesday, after being active for roughly 20 hours. While 100% containment means firefighters have successfully surrounded the blaze with a control line to prevent further spread, it does not mean the fire is completely extinguished. Flames may still smolder within the perimeter until fully controlled and out.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries or structure damage were reported.
As fire season intensifies across California, even small incidents like the Wolfsen Fire serve as a reminder for residents to stay alert and ready. Cal Fire continues to monitor the area.
