San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery to Hold Memorial Day Ceremony Honoring Fallen Heroes

SANTA NELLA, CA — The San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery will host a Memorial Day Commemoration Ceremony on Sunday, May 25, 2025, beginning at 9 a.m., to honor the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

This year’s theme, To Care for Them,” reflects the nation’s enduring commitment to its fallen service members and their families. The ceremony will include a wreath laying, moment of silence, rifle volley, and the playing of Taps.

Keynote remarks will be delivered by State Senator Anna Caballero, with additional addresses by Assembly Member Esmeralda Soria and Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Smith of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA). The United States Air Force Band of the Golden West will provide musical tribute during the ceremony.

The event is open to the public, and all members of the community, including local media, are encouraged to attend. Media representatives must confirm attendance with James Schneider, Administrative Officer, at 209-854-1040 ext. 1101 by Thursday, May 22. No drones will be permitted during the ceremony.

The San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery is part of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ national cemetery system, which honors over 5.4 million individuals, including more than 4.1 million Veterans, with dignified burial and memorial services across 156 cemeteries nationwide.
