Roger George Guide Service Fishing Report: 10.15.2025 San Luis Reservoir

14 lber last Friday – released on the Seaqualizer release tool

Los Banos, CA (October 15, 2025) — San Luis Reservoir striper fishing has been fairly slow in the big lake this week as the full moons impact hit. The reaction and troll bites slowed with the full moons influence – but that should change this week after the storm moves out of the area. Water levels in the big lake are holding around 1,100,000 acre feet- and there has been a slow daily release for the last week . There could be some input later this week after the heavy rainfall in central California moves into the system.

I fished with a buddy last Friday in a very slow bite, with just a few bites all day working the main lake at around 60’ with Lucky Craft lures in shad shades. We ended up with 2 good bites – one fish going 14 lbs-then an hour later – we were surprised by a big hit . That fish went 43” and weighed 31 lbs- one of our biggest this year- a beautiful healthy fish we gently released using the Seaqualizer release tool. Poor numbers but covering ground got us two great fish that were active and feeding.

The Forebay has been the hotspot for topwater action according to my contacts . Lots of small fish boiling on top is the most recent report. I very seldom fish the Forebay but now is usually the time the fish it.

Fall conditions are coming -and the current storm should lower the water temps even more  – kicking off  a full surface feeding pattern very soon .
