LOS BANOS, CA — As of May 14, the Merced County Elections website, which is updated daily, lists no official candidates for the 2025 Los Banos District 1 Special Election. With the filing deadline set for May 30, only 16 days remain for prospective candidates to submit their paperwork.
The Los Banos City Council comprises five members: a mayor and four councilmembers representing individual districts. Currently, District 4 Councilmember Deborah Lewis serves as the only woman on the council. While women have historically been underrepresented in city government, Councilmember Lewis’s leadership offers a visible example of the value of diverse voices in shaping local policy.
