Los Banos, CA (October 2, 2025) — Mitzy Perez was officially sworn in as the newest member of the Los Banos City Council, taking the District 1 seat after winning a special election against Kalid “Virriy” Sanchez.
The oath-taking occurred during the city council’s regular meeting, marking the culmination of a contest that filled a key vacancy on the council board.
Perez and Sanchez squared off in a special election held on August 26, 2025 for the District 1 seat. The seat became open earlier this year after former Council member Kenneth Lambert resigned, creating the necessity for a public election rather than a direct appointment.
With Perez now sworn in, the Los Banos City Council is back to full membership.
