Los Banos, CA (November 15, 2025) — Sutter Health announced that fifteen of its hospitals earned an “A” grade in the Fall 2024 Hospital Safety Grade issued by The Leapfrog Group, a national organization that evaluates hospitals on patient-safety performance. According to Sutter Health, the Hospital Safety Grade is based on more than 30 measures related to preventing medical errors, injuries, infections, and other potential sources of patient harm.
In its announcement, Sutter Health stated that these results reflect performance across its network in the areas assessed by Leapfrog. Memorial Hospital Los Banos was included among the Sutter Health facilities referenced in the systemwide recognition. The release did not provide individual hospital breakdowns or list the specific grade earned by each Sutter facility.
Sutter Health identified The Leapfrog Group as an independent nonprofit watchdog that assigns letter grades to hospitals nationwide based on publicly available data. The organization’s evaluation focuses on processes, outcomes, and systems designed to support patient safety.
Sutter Health Chief Medical and Quality Officer Dr. William Isenberg said in the release:
“This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to patient safety and quality care. Earning an ‘A’ grade is a testament to the dedication of our teams and their focus on delivering the safest possible care for our communities.”
The full Hospital Safety Grade reports, including detailed scoring for individual hospitals participating in the evaluation, are publicly available through The Leapfrog Group’s website.
