Los Banos, CA (October 3, 2025) — The California Department of Motor Vehicles has announced that its Los Banos field office, located at 814 West L Street, is temporarily closed due to mold remediation. The closure was announced on October 2, 2025, after mold was discovered inside the building, prompting health and safety concerns. DMV officials have not provided a reopening date and said the office will remain closed until the remediation is complete and the facility is safe for employees and the public.
In the meantime, customers are being directed to other nearby DMV locations, including the Turlock office at 825 E. Monte Vista Avenue, the Merced office at 1313 W. 12th Street, the Hollister office at 80 N. Sally Street (open Tuesdays and Thursdays), and the Gilroy office at 6984 Automall Parkway, Suite A. AAA’s Los Banos branch also offers select DMV services for its members as an authorized business partner.
For now, the DMV is urging customers to complete as many transactions as possible online or plan ahead to visit another field office. Officials emphasized that no reopening timeline has been set and that the Los Banos office will only resume operations once the mold remediation is complete and the building is cleared for use.
