In Memoriam: Paul Delcid Manzanedo, 02/27/1927 – 03/06/2024

Born February 27, 1927, in Glendale, Arizona, Paul was the son of Pablo and Francesca Manzanedo, and one of 14 children. He is survived by his youngest brother, Manuel Manzanedo, in addition to 3 of his children: Maria Consuelo Torres, Paul Manzanedo Jr., and Susan M. Ledford. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Samuel Jimenez, Charles Jimenez, Christian Walker, Robert Jones, Gabriel Manzanedo, Sara Manzanedo Hacker, Joshua Ledford, CorryAnn Mendoza, Kaleb Ledford, Danielle Manzanedo, Lindsey Manzanedo, and Myles Manzanedo, as well as 31 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Francesca, all siblings but his youngest, his spouse, Aida Manzanedo, and his son, Daniel Louis Manzanedo.

Paul was a boy when he and his family relocated to Los Banos for agricultural work. He went on to serve in WWII in the Signal Corps and was released by honorable discharge. Following his service, he worked at Paradiso Automotive services as a lube mechanic for 38 years, while raising a family with his spouse, Aida, in the same small town of his youth, the town in which they would grow old together.

Paul was a man of few words but a quiet strength, who valued simple things, and enjoyed a calm and peaceful environment. The epitome of “still waters run deep,” he was complex and wise, hidden under a composed shell. He was great for a laugh, his humor often displayed in a light-hearted jest, a twinkle in his eyes, and the subtlest of smirks barely cracking his composure. He spent free time enjoying the beauty of a peaceful morning fishing, or mushrooming, and later in his retirement years, found joy in gardening, playing Solitaire and, of course, visiting with family. He was also known to walk several miles each day, for many years.

Paul will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

The funeral service will be held at Whitehurst Funeral Chapels, 1840 S. Center Ave., Los Banos, CA, on Thursday, March 28th, at 10:00. Burial will follow at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 McCabe Rd., Santa Nella, CA.
