Los Banos, CA (November 11, 2025) — The 10th Annual Los Banos Veterans Day Parade, held on November 1, brought the community together in a powerful display of pride and patriotism. With this year’s theme, “A Salute to the Space Force,” schools across the district showcased their creativity and gratitude for America’s veterans.

Out of numerous spirited entries, three local schools earned top honors in the parade’s “Most Patriotic School Contest.” The Los Banos American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) formally recognized the winning schools during the City Council meeting on Wednesday, November 5, at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

“Congratulations to the schools of the annual Los Banos Veterans Parade’s ‘Most Patriotic School Contest.’ The judges had their work cut out for them as there were so many terrific entries,” the Los Banos Veterans organization announced. “It was a very close contest; however, these schools came in first place.”

Creekside Junior High School shared that their float was “a labor of love.”

Cassie Mills, the 7th grade ASB teacher at Creekside Junior High said on behalf of herself and 8th grade ASB advisor Christopher Bell,

“The float was so much fun to work on with the kids. Mostly we want to thank everyone who helped with it, especially our administration who are always ready to provide what we need. Also thanks to our parents who brought the kids out to help the day after Halloween. We look forward to what we can do with more than five days to put it together next year. We love that we get the chance to participate every year in this wonderful event honoring those who served our country.”

“Each year, more students, staff, and families come together to walk alongside our float, proudly honoring our local veterans,” the school said. “This year, we were honored to receive the Most Patriotic Award and the perpetual framed flag from the Los Banos VFW and American Legion. We extend heartfelt thanks to the VFW for their service and dedication, and to the Grasslands Parent Club and students for leading the float construction. Their teamwork and pride truly shone through.”
