
Le Grand, CA (October 16, 2025) — Three people are in custody after a home invasion in Le Grand led to an exchange of gunfire with deputies early Thursday morning, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded around 2:12 a.m. to a report of a home invasion in the 3800 block of Washington Avenue in the unincorporated community of Le Grand. When they arrived, they were met by armed suspects who opened fire, prompting deputies to return fire.
Two of the suspects were hit by gunfire and retreated into the residence before surrendering a short time later. A third suspect, who was not injured, was taken into custody at the scene. All three are now in custody, and the two wounded suspects were taken to a hospital for treatment. Officials have not released their names, ages, or the extent of their injuries.
No deputies or residents were hurt during the incident, and investigators have not said whether the suspects had any prior connection to the victims inside the home. The sheriff’s office continues to investigate and is asking anyone with information about the case to contact 209-385-7445.
