LE GRAND, CA (October 28, 2025) — The Merced County Sheriff’s Office has released an official update confirming the identities and charges of three suspects involved in the October 16 deputy-involved shooting and home-invasion robbery in Le Grand.

According to the statement posted by the sheriff’s office six hours ago, deputies responded early that morning to an apartment complex in the 3800 block of Washington Street after receiving reports of a home-invasion in progress. As one deputy reached the second floor of the building, he encountered multiple armed suspects. The suspects opened fire on the deputy, who returned fire, striking two of them.

The injured suspects were identified as Julian Urquizo, 20, and Nehemiah Urquizo, 22, both of Le Grand. Both were treated at a local hospital and have since been booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of attempted murder, robbery, and other related offenses. A third suspect, Roman Naranjo, 35, also of Le Grand, was uninjured and taken into custody at the scene.

No deputies or civilians were injured during the exchange of gunfire. The sheriff’s office emphasized that its Investigation Bureau is continuing to work closely with the Merced County District Attorney’s Office to review evidence and determine whether further charges are warranted.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to contact the Merced County Sheriff’s Office at (209) 385-7445.
