To say that Weslee Allison has had a rough year is an understatement. Battling Burkitt Lymphoma, this football loving Los Banos High School student’s senior year had a scary start.

“This all started in June,” Weslee’s mother, Jill Allison, shared, “He just kept complaining, ‘Mom, my head hurts. I just don’t feel right.’”

After several hospital and emergency room visits, all Weslee was diagnosed with was sinus infections and given antibiotics. Finally, in August, the ER recommended a hospital referral.

Within a week, Weslee was seen at Stanford hospital in the Bay Area where his results were sent. Sunday night, August 28th at 9 pm, after a two-hour trip home, Jill got the call from Stanford that Weslee needed to begin chemotherapy immediately.

Weslee (18) with his siblings Kylee (23) and Shaun (13).

“The doctor told me that Burkitt’s Lymphoma is extremely aggressive, so they have to act just as aggressively. As soon as Weslee is feeling a bit better, they hit him with another round of chemo,” Jill shared.

Since August 29th, Weslee has undergone five separate rounds of chemotherapy where Jill has seen the cancer “just melt away.”

“I could not be more thankful to our Home and Hospital teacher, Meghan Souza, and the doctors at Stanford. They’re always there to let you know they are there,” Jill continued.

The doctors at Stanford hope to have her son back to school and in recovery by prom.

After graduation, Weslee looks forward to a future as a mechanic.

“He wants to go to UTI in Sacramento to learn mechanics, welding, and customization… anything to do with cars. He absolutely loves cars,” said Jill.
