Dos Palos, CA (October 1, 2025) — Shoppers in three California cities will notice higher sales tax rates starting October 1, 2025.
The City of Dos Palos and the City of Oakland have both enacted a 0.5 percent local sales tax, while the City of Sebastopol approved an increase of 0.25 percent. These adjustments officially take effect today, according to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA).
California’s statewide base sales tax is 7.25 percent, but local jurisdictions can add voter-approved measures on top of that. With the new increases, the combined sales tax rates in Dos Palos, Oakland, and Sebastopol will be higher, generating additional revenue for city services and programs.
A full breakdown of the updated tax rates, including jurisdiction-specific details, is available on the CDTFA website.
