Winton Man Arrested After Brief Pursuit Following Reported Domestic Incident

Winton, CA (January 16, 2026) — Deputies responded to a report of a possible domestic incident in the Winton area Tuesday evening, according to law enforcement officials.

Authorities said that at approximately 8:30 p.m., deputies located a vehicle matching the description of one believed to be involved in the incident near the intersection of Shaffer Road and Palm Avenue. When deputies attempted a traffic stop, the driver failed to yield, leading officers on a brief pursuit.

The driver, later identified as 20-year-old Izik Torrez, pulled into a residence in the 6500 block of Eucalyptus Avenue and ran inside the home. Deputies followed and took Torrez into custody without further incident.

Torrez was booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of felony evading a peace officer and violation of a restraining order. No additional details regarding the domestic incident were released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
