The meeting agenda includes two items, the Public Forum and item 6. CONSIDERATION OF INTERIM CITY MANAGER. A. City Council Resolution No. 6528 – Appointing Gregory B. Wellman as Interim City Manager and Approving Interim City Manager Employment Agreement.

According to the staff report, “Wellman will be paid an hourly rate of $104.94” which is equivalent to an annual salary of $218,275 per year or about $18,200 per month. In addition, the staff report reads, “There are currently sufficient funds in the 2022/23 budget to cover the costs associated with the proposed employment agreement for the remainder of the fiscal year” which ends June 30, 2023. However, he can work a maximum of 960 hours under the contract to avoid affecting his retirement.

According to a 2011 Modesto Bee article posted on Wellman’s LinkedIn page, in addition to his government and other private sector experience, he worked as a principal consultant for Citygate Associates LLC. At that time, Wellman and his wife, Kathy had four children and 11 grandchildren.
