The California Highway Patrol issued a news release regarding a fatal solo collision that occurred on December 12, 2023, at around 10:00 PM. The incident took place on State Route 223 west of State Route 184 in Bakersfield, California.
The report details a solo-vehicle crash involving a 2007 Honda. The vehicle, for unknown reasons, veered off the road, struck a curb, and then a metal column in a gas station parking lot, resulting in the vehicle splitting in two and the driver being ejected. The driver sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the driver will be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing, and the involvement of alcohol or drugs is under consideration.
